ABOUT
Capt. Mark Hotze
USCG Licensed Captain
Mark grew up in Virginia, the son of a former Notre Dame football player. This upbringing instilled a work, and work-out, ethic like no other. Mark came from a family of skiers and every day was a new day to prepare and to get better at skiing. He still puts this same passion and dedication in everything that he does today. Mark graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering. He moved to New York City shortly after graduation. He quickly decided that office and city work was not for him. He had a need to be outdoors. Mark took a job traveling with the government where he had the opportunity to ski more often. He also discovered a new passion - fishing.
Once he learned the basics, Mark was fishing as much as possible. He had the opportunity to learn many different techniques from all over the world. His path has sent him fishing the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, South Pacific, Atlantic, fresh water rivers and lakes in almost every state in the US, and of course, saltwater light tackle fishing all along the East Coast. Mark moved to Maryland and spent years striper fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. After several years traveling, he was sent to Hurlburt Field in Navarre Beach, Florida. This is how he discovered the beautiful Emerald Coast. Mark knew immediately that this is where he wanted to be. He packed up his life and moved down. He decided that there was no reason to spend his life stuck in an office. Instead, he wanted to pursue making his passion his career. Mark bought a boat, earned his captain’s license, and began the journey to share his excitement for the sport of fishing with everyone. Mark now lives in Grayton Beach and owns his charter fishing company, 30A Light Tackle. He spends his time fishing, of course, and enjoying the sunshine and gorgeous white sand beaches of 30a with his girlfriend and first mate, Kayla, and the worlds greatest dog and official fish taste tester, Harper.
